Project of the Month – Affordable Home Improvements
In this post we will be showcasing a recent Orangery & landscaping project undertaken by the team at affordable home improvements, located in the village of Rothwell near Kettering.
As you can see from the before photograph the property already featured a conservatory, It was important for me to establish why a second conservatory was required and how we could improve on the design and functionality.
Based on the need for dining room the design we agreed on is known as orangery, this design a mix between a conservatory and a traditional extension.
Lets look at some of the orangery features
- Brick pillars
- Platformed ceilings
- lantern roof
The following images show a closer look at the internal structure and common features of the orangery
Below are a few highlights along with a bit of customer banter
This video was taken by the landscaper who walks you around the different areas that where paved as part of the project, pretty impressive stuff as you can see from the amount of trees that are growing out of the new indian stone.
Here you see how the team at affordable home improvements converted an old & tired lean to conservatory, into a modern and contemporary style orangery.
There were few obstacles preventing the customer from having anything other than a traditional lean to design. we finally agreed an the orangery style which turned out to be a great success.
This design features a traditional conservatory with a gable design, we have selected a glass roof option with the latest energy rated glazing and heat reflecting properties to shield as much of the suns rays as possible.
Cath & Bill were desperate for the additional space in the property that would allow them to have a large dining room, in order to entertain family and friends.
One of the biggest challenges we faced was the many obstacles on the existing property, for example there was a large soil pipe in the far corner, between the house wall and the extension, our engineers and technical team designed a special box gutter system, also the existing extension height was extremely low creating a problem for the roof meaning it cut across the windows on the house wall.
All in all this project was a huge success. enjoy the video highlights and listen to what the customer had to say about their experience with the conservatory team here at affordable home improvements.
